The 411 on the Information game.
Today,s world is a great deal different from the one most of you reading this grew up in. Crime and society have changed, out-looks and perspectives have changed, things that were unacceptable only a few years ago are acceptable now. Things you couldn't do only a few years ago, like background checks, are now mainstream and totally accessable in todays highly technological world of the Y2K era. For instance you can buy anything from nearly any store with no money or check, you can also make bank transfers just like only the police could only a few years ago. The world has indeed changed, some for better and some for not so better.
When i was growing up the only people you saw doing background checks on individuals were the government, police and private detectives. I guess if you had the right connections and rotary dial phone in your mercedes convertable or you had friends you could call and do a background check or lookup a telephone number or license plate number but for the average citizen, background checks and public records checks were off limits. Of course back then no one had access to a computer becaue they were as big as 2 car garages. Now there is a computer or 3 in just about every household on the planet. Oh if the six million dollar man could see me now, or maybe George Jetson.
The internet brings background checks to the many.
By the middle of the 1990's the internet had become know to everyone on the planet and at about that same time online internet databases became accessable to the average American citizen through the freedom of information act. That changed everything, not only could you access files on other computers in a user friendly environment but you could also communicate with them also. So now with the internet up and humming and the freedom of information act in effect, all "Public records" were actually and very easily available to the actual "public".
Now almost any house you visit has a personal computer in every room allot of the times. The Personal computer is rivaling the television as the most used media resource. The computer has brought many good things to the world but as with any breakthough it has the potential to bring great harm. It is true that children are getting better at computers faster, and while this helps with school work and study efforts there are many other less benefitial things computers are being used for, crime and identity theft. In todays world it is best to know who, where and what you allow to be near you and your loved ones.
What you don't know can hurt you.
There is but one thing you can't get too much of in these new modern days and times: safety. Though it is absurdly common to allow a stranger inside of your home, repairmen, Avon lady, childrens friends parents, you have the right to be weary. Never feel bad or guilty for doing your own public records or background check on anyone. You have the right to snoop when concerned for a loved one or youself, and a duty when children are involved.
Public records are available for you to use exactly for this reason, at anytime, day or night you can check who is behind a name or telephone number, even a license plate number. Make the most these rights and use them whenever youfeel the need to protect yourself. Whether it is just checking the credentials of a handyman or laborer or making sure that the football coach doesn't have a record of giving drugs to children or worse. The fact is the modern (user-friendly) public records background check is the great equalizer in this modern world.
